Smoky Robinson of the Miracles introduced the girls to Berry Gordy at MoTown.  He was not excited at first.  The Primettes continued to hang around the Hitsville studio every day after school.  He gave them a few breaks by allowing them to contribute hand claps and background vocals for the songs of other Motown stars like Marvin Gaye and Mary Wells. The Supremes recorded a dozen No. 1 pop singles in the 60s.
